Here we are again: The Digital Finance Conference invites you to experience the future of the financial world. On 27 & 28 May 2020, the #digifin community will meet again in Berlin to discuss the most exciting trends and innovations of the banking and insurance sector. On May 27, we invite you to our exclusive Pioneers’ Eve at Allianz Forum – right next to Brandenburger Tor – to get warmed up for our conference day on May 28. We look forward to exciting keynotes, varied panel discussions and exciting pitches from upcoming newcomers.

Political developments and economic trends – as well as changing public debates – are also transforming the financial sector. More than just the appearance of new players or the introduction of new services determines the daily business in the financial industry. We can witness a new era of FinTechs and InsurTechs and new types of cooperation. Currently, a number of changes are pushing the agenda. Corporate culture and diversity, trust and security in payment, climate change and sustainability are just a few of the main issues of the upcoming Digital Finance Conference. In addition, the following topics will shape the programme of #digifin20:

  • FinTech & InsurTech: Cooperation, Development and Consolidation
  • Startups: Venture Capital & Private Equity
  • New Ecosystems & Platform Economy
  • Decentralized Finance & Blockchain
  • Cloud & Outsourcing

In addition to the carefully curated stage programme, the Digital Finance Conference of course provides plenty opportunities for exclusive networking in the charming atmosphere of Cafe Moskau. Become part of the #digifin20 community and connect with the leading decision makers in the financial sector.

FinTech & InsurTech

Always new FinTechs and InsurTechs develop and push on the market. Some succeed in breaking through, some are bought up – but some disappear completely from the market. This evolution in the financial sector is accompanied by constantly new cooperations.
Digital Transformation leads more and more businesses to focus on their USPs. For the remaining areas useful cooperations and partners are sought. This creates an extremely efficient and at the same time heterogeneous ecosystem in which innovations emerge and can scale ever faster.

At #digifin20 we will take a closer look at these cooperations between banks, insurances, FinTechs and InsurTechs as well as with BigTech and Asset Management.

Venture Capital & Private Equity

Just a few years ago, German and European founders criticised the lack of sufficient Venture Capital. However, there has been a fundamental change. Large funding rounds were achieved and the first unicorns came up in Europe. These developments now allow international and intercontinental expansions.
But there still remains a question: Why do Asian or US companies usually get the big tickets?

At #digifin20 we will discuss the role of European investors and the developments according available venture capital.

Platforms are also increasingly emerging in the financial market. They provide crowdfunding, crowdlending or a marketplace for SME financing – but they also serve as universal comparison platforms. What consequences will this development have on established sales channels and will conventional intermediaries still be needed in the digital age?

Here, too, the market is following open banking. New partnerships develop to address new target and customer groups. Platforms serve as aggregators here. However, they are not only gaining a part of the value chain, they are also increasingly taking over the market.

Only rarely these successful platforms originate from Europe. At #digifin20 we will discuss questions like:
How can banks, FinTechs, insurances and InsurTechs learn from the successful players? Will there be one platform for all financial matters – Financial Home 2.0 – in the future? Will there be an "Amazon of Finance" or will Amazon itself become a relevant player in the financial industry?

Cloud & Outsourcing

Recently, numerous banks and stock exchanges announced their intentions to focus increasingly on cloud computing. At the same time, experts in business and politics discuss ways to strengthen Europe's Digital Sovereignty. Probably, "Gaia-X" is the most famous example of these efforts at the moment. First discussions among Bitkom members – cloud providers and financial market users – show, that many questions regarding feasibility, supervisory practice and goals have not been answered yet.

At #digifin20 we will answer the question, how international experts from the financial market evaluate the proposals of the authorities.

Decentralized Finance & Blockchain

In the financial sector, the blockchain and distributed ledger technologies are the most electrifying topics. Intermediaries such as banks, stock exchanges or credit card companies are confronted with new business models: Securities trading and payment transactions on the blockchain (e.g. via Stablecoins such as Libra), the secure storage of keys and the tokenisation of any asset class, e.g. real estate.

The German government has recently adopted a blockchain strategy, will make electronic securities possible, and will regulate wallet providers as " Crypto Depositories " for the first time in 2020 as part of the new money laundering directive. To what extent will these developments revolutionise the traditional financial market and how will it react to them? And how does Europe react to the tension between the USA and China in terms of technology?
